Teaching Philosophy:
"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaity to life and to everything."
- Plato
A common thread that can be observed in many historically “great pre-modern empires” is the support of music and art. The Holy Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Persian and British Empires all have a rich history of musical traditions. Understanding that music has a purpose beyond entertainment and the role music education plays in the development of societies is essential to our success as a modern society.
I believe in fostering whole-world learning experiences through the academic study of the choral-music tradition and piano. Reading music requires higher-level and critical thinking skills that, when developed properly, are pertinent to life-long learning. Music is a vessel for strengthening spatial-temporal skills, instilling discipline, building whole-brain learning experiences, and establishing cultural awareness through creative expression.
